‘Blade’ has become the first victim of the writers strike with Marvel Studios halting pre-production on the project just as it was gearing up to shoot.
The Mahershala Ali lead film had recently hired ‘True Detective’ creator Nic Pizzolatto to work on the script, but a source for The Hollywood Reporter says “time simply ran out.”
The film will resume once the strike is over but this is the second major delay it has suffered. The first was when it lost original director Bassam Tariq who has since been replaced by Yann Demange.
Marvel currently has ‘Captain America: New World Order’, ‘Agatha: Coven Of Chaos’ and ‘Wonder Man’ in production and they will continue without writers on set.
‘Deadpool 3’ and ‘Thunderbolts’ are the next Marvel films due to enter production.
