James Gunn and Peter Safran have chosen Craig Gillespie to direct the adaptation of Tom King’s Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. The film already has Milly Alcock attached to star as Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El.
Gillespie is known for directing off kilter biopics like I, Tonya and Pam & Tommy as well as mainsteam fare like Disney’s Cruella.
Alcock is expected to cameo as the character in next year’s Superman before headlining her own film. Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow was announced as part of Act 1 of the new DCU during James Gunn’s slate presentation at the start of last year.
The film will be written by Ana Nogueira.
