Joe and Anthony Russo came on stage at ComicCon to confirm that they will be returning to Marvel Studios to direct the next pair of Avengers films. The brothers have previously directed four hit films for the comic book studio, with the last being 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

The fifth Avengers film will now be titled Avengers: Doomsday, replacing the previously announce Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Robert Downey Jr. will be playing the role of Doctor Doom. The two films will be written by Stephen McFeely, who co-wrote the Russos other Marvel films.

It was also announced that the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts would be appearing in the films but there was no word on which surviving Avengers would be back.

Doomsday will be released in May 2026 with Secret Wars to follow in May 2027.
