Simon Kinberg To Write And Produce The Next ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy

It is being reported that Simon Kinberg will oversee the next Star Wars trilogy. It is being disputed whether this will be Episodes X, XI, XII of the Skywalker Saga or something new. Kinberg will write all the films and will produce alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

This trilogy will not replace anything that is already in the works, meaning that James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, and Donald Glover are still working on their projects.

Kinberg is no stranger to Star Wars, having created Rebels with Dave Filoni and working as a consultant on J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens. Both of these projects are foundations of most of the current Star Wars storytelling.

Lucasfilm and Disney has no comment on the matter and no timeframe has been mentioned for when we might see these films but Star Wars does celebrate it’s 50th anniversary in May of 2027.
