Hulu have given Sinners director Ryan Coogler the greenlight to reboot ’90s sci-fi The X-Files with Danielle Deadwyler in one of the lead roles.
Coogler is going to write and direct the pilot with Jennifer Yale (The Copenhagen Test) acting as showrunner.
The show official description makes it sound like this will be a continuation of the original series.
Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.
Deadwyler will play one of the FBI agents.
Chris Carter, who created the original show, will be a non-writing executive producer on the series.

How far The X-Files could possibly go after the most recent season can be daunting enough as it is. Especially with all the overwhelmingly creative conflicts in keeping Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who alive in recent years.
