Bradley Copper will star in the new take on the toy franchise that is being co-written and directed by Danny McBride.
Cooper has taken the role of Duke, the leader of the specialist military team know as G.I. Joes. This is the same character played by Channing Tatum in the live-action films G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, released by Paramount in 2009 and 2013.
No plot details have been officially released but the film is rumoured to be a scaled back version of the franchise with the action all set in one town that has been taken over by the terrorist group Cobra.
This will be the first time that Cooper has lead a franchise. He has previously worked with McBride on an episode of HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones.
