A Poison Ivy television series is in the works at HBO, with The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc attached as a producer.
LeFranc’s The Penguin was the first live-action spin-off from a Batman film, following Colin Farrell’s portrayal of the character in Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022). The series aired on HBO in 2024 and was widely praised for its gritty, gangster-style storytelling. Farrell won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his performance, and the show received several nominations for best limited series.
Poison Ivy, the plant-controlling femme fatale from the Batman comics, has never previously been the central focus of a film or series, though she has appeared in a number of live-action and animated DC titles. Uma Thurman played her in the 1997 film Batman & Robin; she has also featured in Gotham, Batwoman, and several animated series, most recently as Harley Quinn’s girlfriend in the adult animated show Harley Quinn, voiced by Lake Bell.
