John Hannah, who co-starred in all three of Brendan Fraser’s Mummy films, will be back for the legacy sequel.
The new film, which is rumoured to be starting production soon, will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett(Scream VI, Ready Or Not) from a script by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill). No plot details have been release about the new film but it is thought to ignore the third film in the franchise.
Hannah plays Jonathan, the roguish brother of Evelyn (Rachel Weisz in the first two films, Maria Bello in the third) the librarian who inadvertently unleashes the Mummy in the 1999 film.
Fraser’s and Weisz’s returns had previous been confirmed.
Universal will release the next feature on 19th May, 2028.
