Top 5 Things We Learnt From The Mandalorian Trailer

Coming in November we finally get the first live-action Star Wars TV show on the Disney+ streaming service. The Mandalorian, set five years after the events of the original trilogy, follows the adventures of Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter. The series is being produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s go to guy for animation, is acting as showrunner and directing some of the episodes. A trailer was shown at Star Wars Celebration and although it was not released to the public if you search the internet you can find a bootleg copy.

Here are the top five things we got from the trailer.

5. It’s influenced be the old…

There is a lot of familiar imagery from the original trilogy. We see Jawas, stormtroopers, tie fighters, a cantina, the list goes on. Although this series is being made by some top talent they are also fans and are making it for the fans.

4. …and the new

But it is not just all old Star Wars. Death Troopers are back. These were first seen in 2016’s Rogue One. This tells us the creators aren’t going to be reliant on just what was in the first three films.

3. It’s going to add new elements

It has been a tradition in Star Wars that each new entry adds a new trooper and The Mandalorian is no different. We see an Imperial Flame Trooper for the first time.

2. It’s shot like a western

George Lucas has always been open about how the franchise was inspired by westerns, as well as classic sci-fi serials, and bounty hunters were a fixture of the wild west. We get the classic gun fighter shot in the trailer, a shot normally reserved for Han Solo, and most of the locations have a frontier town feel.

1. The Mandalorian is not the only bounty hunter in it

We get to see an IG droid in action in live-action for the first time. Is it IG-88 from The Empire Strikes Back? We don’t know yet. We know The Mandalorian works for the bounty hunter’s guild so there is a good chance it is and there’s the possibility we will see other familiar faces turn up.
