Top 5 Jedi That Could Answer Grogu’s Call

In chapter 13 of ‘The Mandalorian’ Din Djarin is instructed by Ahsoka Tano to take Grogu (the artist formally known as The Child) to the Jedi temple on Tython. Once there he is to place Grogu on the seeing stone and wait for a Jedi to answer the call. Ahsoka says that there aren’t many Jedi left in the galaxy and here we look at the top candidates for who may turn up.

5. Mace Windu

This one is a long shot. When Mace goes out the window in ‘Revenge Of The Sith’ you never see a body. Samuel L. Jackson is on record as wanting to return to the character. Is his star power great enough to force a return? You would have to explain where the character had been for the last 30 years.

4. Quinlan Vos

Quinlan Vos started life as a background extra in ‘The Phantom Menace’ but George Lucas liked the character’s look so much that he ended up with a whole backstory as the Jedi Council’s spy and assassin. He has appeared in ‘The Clone Wars’, books, and comics and is the main canon Jedi that we don’t have an answer for after Order 66.

3. Kyle Katarn

Before the Disney acquisition of Star Wars Kyle Katarn was the one who stole the Death Star plans, discovered the Dark Trooper project and went on to become a Jedi in Luke’s new order. All this was told in the ‘Dark Forces’ and ‘Jedi Knight’ computer games. Now that Dark Troopers have been reintroduced in ‘The Mandalorian’ it would be fitting to see Katarn return.

2. Luke Skywalker

Luke is the obvious choice as he is the one Jedi that we know is about in that time period. The main question would be how they would have him appear onscreen. Do you de-aged Mark Hamill, just use his voice, recast, have him as a hologram, this is a problem the creators will have to come up with an answer for.

1. Ezra Bridger

‘The Mandalorian’ appears to be leaning into plot points set up by ‘Star Wars Rebels’. ‘Rebels’ ended with Erza disappearing into the Unknown Regions with Grand Admiral Thrawn. Now that Thrawn has been mentioned in ‘The Mandalorian’ Ezra can’t be far behind. Actor Rahul Kohli has been hinting on social media, denying, then hinting again that he has been cast. Is he telling the truth? We will know soon.

Which Jedi do you want to see answer the call! Comment below.

  1. You’re off a little. In cannon windy and Voss are dead by this time. Skywalker is interesting.Bridger is as well. Katarn hasn’t been born in cannon. At this point in the timeline, you could have K’Kurk, yaddle, the two from the new Star wars game, Lea, and maybe Mara Jade. The real question is,who saved him?

    1. Windu went out the window but we never saw the body and Jackson says he wants to play the part again. You just need a character to say ‘Somehow, Windu has survived.’ Also, there’s no canonical death for Vos. Mara Jade would be interesting and, with Thrawn coming back, is a possibility.

    2. Katarn is only mentioned in the card game in Canon, as part of the Rebel Alliance. In Legends, he was born 23 BBY. So he’s a possibility. Though I’d rather see Luke or Ezra.

I’d love to see Mara Jade canonised. Of course 90% of her story arcs from Legends would be impossible or would need to be heavily retconned. One interesting thing about a Canonised Mara, is that she could have been at Luke’s new Jedi academy when Kylo went bad, and been killed by him, which mirrors her death at Jason’s hands in Legends. I’m not sure if any of the Canon books or other material eliminate Luke having had a wife while he was doing the Jedi Academy thing.
