Saw Gerrera is continuing the Star Wars tradition of characters continuing to appear after their demise. The character, who originally appeared in an arc of ‘The Clone Wars’, died in his first live action appearance during ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’. In that film he has portrayed by Forest Whitaker who went on to reprise the character, in animated form, for ‘Rebels’. Saw most recently showed up again in ‘The Bad Batch’ this time voiced by original voice actor Andrew Kishino.
Now ‘Andor’ actor Stellan Skarsgard has let slip during an interview with Swedish radio station Sverigesradio that he has shot a scene with Forest Whitaker who is returning to the role of Saw. This would make story sense as the character has been set up as one of the original rebel leaders.
Tony Gilroy, who oversaw the ‘Rogue One’ reshoots, is showrunner of the show which will star Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly.
The show is in the midst of shooting and will screen on Disney+ next year.
