‘Spider-Man’ director Jon Watts has signed on to produce the next installment of the ‘Final Destination’ franchise.
Watts has written a treatment that will be turned into a script by Lori Evans Taylor (‘Wicked Wicked Games’) and Guy Busick (the new ‘Scream’).
The five previous films in the franchise, which were released between 2000 and 2011, all followed the same concept of a group of teens avoiding death only to be picked off one by one in grizzly ways by fate.
Watts will only be acting as producer for the film, which is being made exclusively for HBO Max, as his time will be taken up by overseeing the ‘Fantastic Four’ for Marvel Studios.
