Paul Wesley (Vampire Dairies) is the next actor to take on the iconic role of James T. Kirk. He will join the cast of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ in the shows second season. This will make him the third Kirk following on from William Shatner in the 1960s with ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’ and Chris Pine in the reboot films.
The first season launches in May and follows the early adventures of the starship Enterprise and features a crew of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck), and Number One (Rebecca Romijn/Una Chin-Riley). Also on board are Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga.
Paul is an accomplished actor, an astonishing presence and a welcome key addition to the show. Like all of us, he is a life-long Star Trek fan and we are excited by his interpretation of this iconic role

I was hoping for a white Christian male Uhura. It’s long past due!
