Andy Muschietti is looking to build on his two part adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘It’ by developing a prequel for HBO Max.

‘Welcome To Derry’ will be set in the 1960s and explore the events leading up to the first film. Pennywise the clown will be featured but there is now word on whether Bill Skarsgård is returning to the role.

Muschietti will executive produce alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. The three of them have created the show with Fuchs writing the script. If the show goes into production Andy Muschietti would direct the first episode. The writers room for the series is now open.

No potential release has been set for the show. Muschietti is currently in post production on ‘The Flash’ which is coming out next summer.
