Sony have signed Jonás Cuarón, son of Alfonso, to direct ‘El Muerto’. Cuarón made his name with immigration thriller ‘Desierto’. The film, which will be part of the Sony Spider-Man universe, is set to be the first Latino lead Marvel film. Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny (aka. Benito A Martínez Ocasio) will play the lead.
Gareth Dunnet Alcocer (‘Blue Beetle’ which happens to be DC’s first Latino lead film) is writing the script about a luchador (Latino wrestler) with superpowers passed down from generation to generation in a single family.
The film has a release date of 12th January 2024.
