Bradley Cooper is stepping into Steve McQueen’s shoes and will take on the role of Frank Bullitt for Steve Spielberg’s take on the character. The film will not be a remake but an original story featuring the character.
McQueen played the character, a no nonsense San Francisco cop who takes on the mob, in the 1968 Peter Yate’s film, ‘Bullitt’. The film is best remembered for its thrilling car chase and Lalo Schifrin soundtrack.
The project, which is still in development, has been gestating for some time. Cooper and Spielberg have been looking for projects to work together on and it has nearly happened twice before with ‘American Sniper’ and the upcoming ‘Maestro’.
Cooper is also producing alongside Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger with Josh Singer writing the script. McQueen’s son, Chad, and granddaughter, Molly, are onboard as executive producers.
