Empire have continued their coverage of ‘Indiana Jones 5’ by releasing details and the first photo of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character.
Waller-Bridge is playing Helena, Indy’s Goddaughter, who she describes as a “mystery and a wonder”. James Mangold, the film’s director, adds she’s “slippery, charming, the girl next door, a grifter” with Harrison Ford chiming in that she is “a pioneer in ethical accounting”.
The actor got the part after a meeting with producer Kathleen Kennedy.
Kathy was in London and asked to have dinner with me, and casually mentioned this. I immediately ordered ten bottles of wine. Then it was the fastest I’ve ever read a script; I came out of a sort of haze afterwards. I just couldn’t believe how much fun I had and how moved I was by it. And then I had a Zoom and screamed, ‘YES!’ at them all.

Little is known about the character but it has been widely rumoured she will be related to late Denholm Elliott’s character, Marcus Brody.
Earlier Empire also revealed that the film’s opening would feature a de-aged Harrison Ford escaping from a Nazi castle in 1944 before the action jumps to 1969.
The as yet untitled fifth ‘Indiana Jones’ is released next May.
