It was reported months ago the Mary Elizabeth Winstead would be playing a lead role in the upcoming Star Wars show ‘Ahsoka’. Now it has been revealed by The Bespin Bulletin that she will be taking on the role of Hera Syndulla. The character was briefly glimpsed from behind in the ‘Ahsoka’ teaser released only for the audience at Star Wars Celebration but there was no casting announcement at the time.
Syndulla is a Twi’tek rebel leader who first appeared in ‘Star Wars Rebels’, voiced by Vanessa Marshall, and a younger version featured in ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’.
Hera is the latest ‘Star Wars Rebels’ character to make the leap to live action in ‘Ahsoka’. Nastasha Liu Bordizzo is officially announced as Sabine Wren and it has been heavily reported that Eman Esfandi will play Ezra Bridger. The droid, Chopper, was also revealed at Celebration.
‘Ahsoka’, which has entered post-production, is expected to be released in the second half of 2023.
