Top 5 Most Anticipated Panels At Star Wars Celebration Europe

Advertisements

With Star Wars Celebration Europe fast approaching, the excitement is growing for what those lucky enough to get into the panels might learn and see. Seven years ago at the last Celebration in Europe, while a great experience for those who attended, it turned out to be a non-event news wise with Alden Ehrenreich’s casting being leaked beforehand and nothing to show from ‘Rogue One’ due to the reshoots. The only big piece of news was that Thrawn was to return in ‘Star Wars Rebel’ which is ironic as there is a high chance that Thrawn will be part of the big news again.

This time things will be different. After ‘The Mandalorian’ season three Star Wars is a blank slate. Shows have been shot or animated but we have very little information outside of titles and and some casting. There is an announced release date for a film in December 2025 but no film officially announced. This should all change this weekend. With the next Celebration not for another two years this one should be stuffed full of reveals. Here are the big panels that we are looking forward to.

5. The Making of Andor Season One

Fri, Apr 7, 2023 • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Executive Producers Tony Gilroy and Diego Luna and their team of creatives recount the making of the epic first season of Star Wars: Andor.

The first season of ‘Andor’ was the Star Wars sleeper hit of last year with Tony Gilroy and Diego Luna changing what it is possible to do with the franchise and it will be interesting to hear what the pair have to say. But, with season two already having been in production for four months, will they give any insight into what is to come? Any chance of a sneak peek?

4. Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Mon, Apr 10, 2023 • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Join host Amy Ratcliffe as she invites Star Wars: The Bad Batch executive producer and supervising director Brad Rau, executive producer and head writer Jennifer Corbett, executive producer Athena Portillo, actors Dee Bradley Baker (the Bad Batch) and Michelle Ang (Omega) to discuss highlights from the second season of the acclaimed series!

When the panel was announced, many people thought that season two would be the last for ‘The Bad Batch’ making this panel a celebration of the show and not much else. Now that the second season has finished that is clearly not the case. We are more or less guaranteed the announcement of a third season. But could there be any more surprises? Due to the lead time required on animation there will be a lot being kept under wraps that could be revealed. There is even a chance that they could have some footage ready to go.

3. A Look Back at Obi-Wan Kenobi

Sun, Apr 9, 2023 • 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Take a look back at the hit limited series with “Obi-Wan Kenobi’s” Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Indira Varma, Vivien Lyra Blair and executive producer/director Deborah Chow.

This is the wild card panel. A retrospective on a show that is not even a year old with the main cast and crew in attendance. Originally an open panel that anyone could attend, it quietly became a ticketed event. Ewan McGregor has spoken openly about wanting an ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ season two, could he drop a surprise and announce that they are doing it again? The odds are against it, especially now that Disney is cutting back on spending and the Star Wars TV slate is pretty full, but you never know. This could end up being the panel that everyone is talking about.

2. Ahsoka

Sat, Apr 8, 2023 • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Join Executive Producers Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau and special guests for a look at the upcoming Disney+ series, Ahsoka.

‘Ahsoka’ is the next live action show coming to Disney+ and the only new show to have its own panel at Celebration. There is no doubt that a trailer will be screened, even if it is only for those in attendance but what else will we get? Could there be a big reveal of full cast with them all coming out on stage? Will we get a confirmed release date? Hopefully there will be a big ‘Ahsoka’ information dump to get everyone excited and speculating.

1. Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase

Fri, Apr 7, 2023 • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Star Wars Celebration returns, launching with a must-see showcase that will kick the weekend’s festivities into hyperdrive. Lucasfilm’s current crop of live-action filmmakers will be joined by special guests to discuss the many current and upcoming Star Wars adventures, including The Mandalorian, Andor, and more!

This should be the big event of Celebration but also has the potential to be the biggest disappointment. The Lucasfilm Showcase kicks the event off and will layout what is to come over the following days and years. This is where the announcements and surprises will happen to get the buzz going. ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Ahsoka’ cast and crew will definitely be on hand to tease and show footage with the possibility of the debut of an official ‘Ahsoka’ trailer. ‘Andor’ season two is currently filming so there could be an early first look and we could also see anything from a tease to a full trailer for ‘Skeleton Crew’ and ‘The Acolyte’.

While all of that is enough to get anyone excited, none of it is why people want to be in the room for this one. If rumours are to be believed, this is where we could see anywhere between one and three feature films announced. Ever since ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’ was released in 2019 there has been a real desire to know what is come next but every project we have heard about, either officially or unofficially, has stalled or been cancelled. We have a release date of December 2025 and this is where the world could find out what is coming.

Also, going by what happened at the last Celebration, there is a chance they may debut a new ‘Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny’ trailer.

But, and this is a big but, this is all rumour. No film announcements have been promised and, even thought that next Celebration will not be until 2025, they may not happen. If you are in the room be excited for what you get, not disappointed about what you didn’t.
