Gerard Butler’s Die Hard-esque ‘…Has Fallen’ is making the jump to television with a French version starring actor/director Mathieu Kassovitz. ‘Paris Has Fallen’ will be an eight part series written by Howard Overman (‘Misfits’) with Oded Ruskin (‘No Man’s Land’) attached to direct.
Kassovitz will star as Vincent, a protection officer to a French Minister, who is the target of a terror group led by villain Jacob. Vincent works with MI6 operative Zara to keep the politician safe, but they eventually unravel a wider plot, suspecting that a security service colleague is feeding information to Jacob, who is always a step ahead in his mission to bring down Paris.
The series will film in both Paris and London.
Butler has starred as Mike Banning in three ‘…Has Fallen’ films – ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ (2013), ‘London Has Fallen’ (2016), and ‘Angel Has Fallen’ (2019) – in the last decade and has a fourth, ‘Night Has Fallen’, in the works. The series will be set in the same world as the films so there is the possibility that Butler could make an appearance in the series but nothing has been confirmed at the moment.
Casting is currently underway withfilming to begin at the end of the month.
