Adam Wingard Won’t Be Directing The ‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel

After directing the last two blockbusters in Legendary’s Monsterverse, Adam Wingard has decided to step away from the kaiju franchise.

With Legendary looking to move quickly to get a third Godzilla and Kong team-up going, it’s been said that Wingard didn’t have space on his schedule for another kaiju battle andlLeft amicable. The director already has his next film lined up, Onslaught, an action film for A24, that will start shooting towards the end of the year.

Wingard’s two Monsterverse films, Godzilla Vs Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, took $470 and $546 million respectively worldwide so Legendary have left the door open for him to return in the future.

The next Godzilla and Kong film will be written by Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings) but at the moment there is no new director attached
