Neve Campbell has confirmed that she will reprise her role as Sidney Prescott in the forthcoming eighth instalment of the Scream franchise.

Speaking to the Associated Press, the actress revealed that Scream 8 is among her upcoming projects. “That’s in the pipeline as well,” she said. When pressed for further details, she laughed and replied: “I can never tell you anything about Scream 8… I’ll be in it!”

Campbell has appeared as the iconic final girl in every film in the series apart from Scream VI, which she sat out following a salary dispute. She returned for Scream 7, released in February 2026, which focused on Sidney and her on-screen daughter Tatum (played by Isabel May). That film went on to become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise, taking $208 million worldwide against a budget of $45 million.

Scream 8 is currently in development at Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures, with sisters Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, best known for their work on Poker Face, writing the screenplay. Kevin Williamson, who directed Scream 7, has indicated that he will not write or direct the next film, preferring instead to take a step back and remain involved as part of the wider creative family.

No director or release date has yet been announced.
