During the final moments of the 20th anniversary of Lucasfilm Animation panel at Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni announced that Darth Maul will be getting his own animated series on Disney+.
Maul: Shadow Lord will be released in 2026 with Sam Witwer returning to voice the character. Witwer has previously lent his vocal talents to the character in Clones Wars and Rebels.
Darth Maul originally appeared and was seaming killed off in 1999’s The Phantom Menace before being resurrected in the Clones Wars animated show. Played in live action by Ray Park, who also provided some motion capture for the final episodes of Clones Wars, the character was originally voiced by Peter Serafinowicz before Witwer took over for animation and the surprise appearance in Solo.
A trailer was screened at Celebration but not publicly released.
