Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Black Manta in DC’s ‘Aquaman’ films, is in talks to headline Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series ‘Wonder Man’. The show will be executive produced, and possible directed, by Destin Daniel Cretton (‘Shang Chi’). Andrew Guest (‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘Community’) is head writer.
Wonder Man is one of Marvel’s oldest characters, having debuted in 1964 in ‘Avengers’ #9 but can to prominence in the 80s as a founding member of the West Coast Avengers.
Ben Kingsley will be reprising his ‘Iron Man 3’ and ‘Shang-Chi’ role of struggling actor Trevor Slattery in the series.
